Lead Advisor, Multilateral and Strategic Partnerships (P5)

Summary

The Lead Advisor, Multilateral & Strategic Partnerships will bridge programs, partnership development, advocacy, and resource mobilization, connecting Save the Children’s work with International Finance Institutions (IFIs), UN agencies, foundations, and other key partners. This role will lead engagement with U.S.-based partners, assess global priorities around 2030 SDG progress and oversee the development of relevant organizational offerings. They will work closely across the Save the Children movement to support account management and strengthen donor relationships.

With strong connections with relevant institutions and donors and expertise in trends such as localization, impact data, and thought leadership, the Lead Advisor, Multilateral & Strategic Partnerships will drive efforts to diversify funding and elevate Save the Children’s profile. They will collaborate across teams to develop proposals aligned with global priorities and maximize program impact. Additionally, they will contribute to the agency’s strategic goals, particularly in becoming more data-driven and shifting power to local partners, while refining fundraising strategies and ensuring progress is tracked.

 

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Partnership Engagement and Relationship Management

• Lead efforts to build and maintain strong relationships with multilateral organizations (UN, IFIs) and partners to enhance thought leadership, advocacy, and fundraising.
• Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, focusing on global and regional funds, IFIs, diversified donors, and innovative financing mechanisms that align with SCUS’s strategy goals.
• Position SCUS as a go-to strategic partner, elevating the organization’s profile with donors, partners, and stakeholders through thought leadership, networking, and advocacy.
• Drive internal and external strategy sessions to deepen and broaden relationships, ensuring smart stewardship of top donors and effective account management.
• Represent SCUS at high-level meetings and conferences to advocate for our mission and secure support for our programs and priorities for children.

Strategic Planning and Program Leadership

• Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to advance SCUS’s priorities in advocacy, fundraising, and programmatic impact. This includes mapping of trends, opportunities, and modalities of partnering with and influencing diverse development actors and providing leadership and guidance to SCUS and SCI teams.

• Lead the development of large-scale, multi-stakeholder proposals, collaborating across departments and with external partners to align efforts with global priorities and maximize programmatic impact.
• Promote cross-functional collaboration between program, fundraising, and advocacy teams to ensure cohesive initiatives internally and with key partners.

Organizational Leadership and Innovation

• Serve as a senior representative, fostering integration and collaboration within SCI and Save the Children’s global philanthropy teams, while addressing challenges and influencing the future direction of the movement.

• Represent IP and the agency with SCI/A regarding integration, pain points, and the future state of the movement.

• Act as a bridge builder, ensuring effective internal and external collaboration to optimize strategy, funding, and partnerships for organizational growth and impact.

• Train, develop, coach, lead, and supervise staff, clearly communicating organization, division and department priorities, and how their work contributes to our mission, ensuring that the working environment continually fosters diversity, inclusion, and belonging – supporting Save the Children values

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 10 years of relevant experience
• Proven track record of leading successful fundraising and outreach activities for mission-driven organizations.
• Strong ability to network and build partnerships to advance the organization's agenda.
• Established relationships with key decision-makers at multilateral organizations and donors.
• Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in establishing and maintaining partnerships with multilateral donors including the UN and IFIs.
• Strong technical expertise in one of Save the Children’s strategy goals.
