Principal Urban Design & Ecological Architect
At 5th World, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal Urban Design & Ecological Architect to join our innovative team. This role merges the expertise of a principal designer, ecological engineer, and urban planner, focusing on designing and developing transformative projects that integrate luxury aesthetics with sustainable practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in urban planning, architectural design, and ecological engineering, with a proven track record of expanding projects and delivering high-quality results in the luxury market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Strategic Planning: Lead the design and development of urban and ecological projects, integrating nature-based solutions and sustainable practices. Develop comprehensive master plans and innovative design concepts.
- Project Expansion: Identify and capitalize on opportunities for project expansion and upselling, leveraging expertise to attract new business and enhance current projects.
- Sustainable Solutions: Integrate nature-based design principles and ecological strategies into urban planning, focusing on renewable energy and sustainability.
- Budget Management: Oversee budgeting processes, ensuring projects are delivered within financial constraints while meeting high-quality standards.
- Consultant and Subcontractor Management: Support project management efforts by collaborating with consultants and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Engagement Management: Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders, clients, and team members, ensuring project objectives are met.
- Sales Support and Proposal Development: Contribute to proposal creation, presentations, and sales strategies. Identify and pursue new business opportunities to drive project expansion.

- Innovative Designs: Delivery of cutting-edge, sustainable urban designs that reflect luxury and ecological integrity.
- Successful Expansion: Proven ability to identify and secure new project opportunities, contributing to business growth.
- Business Development: Actively involved in business development activities, leveraging industry connections and market knowledge to identify key stakeholders, build relationships, find partners and opportunities, and help propose and close projects, ultimately securing new clients and expanding the firm's project portfolio.
- Effective Management: Efficient project management and budgeting, resulting in timely and on-budget project completion.
- Strong Collaborations: Successful coordination with consultants and subcontractors, fostering positive relationships and achieving project milestones.
- Stakeholder Engagement: High levels of satisfaction among clients and stakeholders, with clear, effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Other Responsibilities:
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in urban design, ecological engineering, and sustainability.
- Contribute to the development of best practices and innovative approaches within the team.
- Represent 5th World at industry events and networking opportunities, enhancing the company’s reputation and market presence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8-10 years of experience in urban design, ecological engineering, and consulting, with a proven track record in luxury markets and project management.
- Extensive knowledge of regenerative land management, landscape architecture, permaculture design, landscape architecture and sustainable practices.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, subcontractor management, and high-end project execution.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in developing strategic proposals and driving business development efforts.
- Experience RFP, Grants process -
Hands-on experience on Farm or Land development [earthworks, homestead, property construction, equipment use, farming ] a nice to have - Experience in ecosystem services, renewable energy, Waste Management or Water management a bonus
