Toolworks is hiring a Lead Employment Development Specialist (also known as a Senior Career Coach) to support adults with disabilities in reaching their employment and community integration goals. This hands-on, field-based role blends direct instruction with leadership - helping clients succeed while guiding and supporting a team of peer staff.

What You'll Do

  • Coach individuals with disabilities at work and community sites to build skills and independence.

  • Conduct assessments, develop person-centered training tools, and deliver tailored instruction.

  • Serve as a team lead by informally coaching peer staff and modeling best practices.

  • Collaborate with program leadership to support high-quality services and positive outcomes.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, including case notes and training records.

  • Monitor site safety and ensure health protocols (including PPE use) are followed.

  • Build strong employer relationships to support job success and placement opportunities.

You're a Great Fit If You:

  • Have experience as a job coach, DSP, or trainer, and are looking to lead without direct supervision responsibilities.

  • Are organized, responsive, and confident working in dynamic field settings.

  • Enjoy training others, helping them grow, and supporting inclusion in the workforce.

  • Are skilled at balancing client needs with documentation and team collaboration.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years working with adults with disabilities, ideally in community-based programs.

  • First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Strong writing and time management skills.

  • Comfortable traveling to multiple sites across the Bay Area.

Preferred:

  • BA in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, or related field.

  • "Train the Trainer" certification (or willing to obtain within 6 months).

  • Experience in retail, hospitality, or other workforce sectors.

  • Language skills in ASL, Spanish, or Cantonese.
