In this role, the Lead Medical Assistant assumes ownership and leads advanced and highly specialized administrative, operational, and support duties at the regional level that require independent initiative and judgment. Some travel is required across the middle TN region.
Job Description
The Lead Medical Assistant Key roles and responsibilities:
- Collaborates closely with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers on achieving HEDIS Quality and Stars Measures, medication adherence compliance, as well as Early Detection and Preventive Screening (EDAPS) metrics at a center and regional level.
- Assists with the daily priorities at a center and regional level.
- Establishes relationships with and collaborates closely with external vendors, including coordinating health seminars/events to achieve metrics.
- Partners with and works closely with the market preceptor(s), market RN(s), and medical assistants at a center and regional level to achieve goals.
- May provide skills training, task delegation, and review of other’s work.
- Works within broad guidelines with little oversight.
- Will be expected to provide patient care in the event of a medical assistant’s absence. Travel may be required.
- Clinical duties may include the following activities: discussing symptoms, obtaining vital signs, medication/vaccine administration, phlebotomy, collecting specimens, performing diagnostic screening tests, sterilizing/cleaning equipment, maintaining examination rooms, and documenting information into the electronic medical records system.

Required Qualifications
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant – OR – current licensure as an LPN.
- Phlebotomy Experience.
- Medication/vaccine administration experience.
- 3+ years of MA experience – OR – LPN experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CPR certified.
- This role is considered patient facing and is part of the company's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected for this role, you will be required to be screened for TB.
- This role is part of Humana’s Driver safety program and therefore requires an individual to have a valid state driver’s license and proof of personal vehicle liability insurance with at least 100,000/300,000/100,000 limits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current licensure as an LPN or LVN in the State of TN.
- Strong clinical background.
- Strong sense of engagement as a team player.
- Experience in a fast pace/high volume environment.
- Proactive, self-starter, and resourceful.
- 1+ years of MA – OR – LPN experience in Primary Care Organization center.
- Value Based Care experience includes knowledge of HEDIS, medication adherence, EDAPS and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish - must pass proficiency exam prior to foreign language communication.
Additional Information:
- Workstyle: In the Clinic, with occasional travel as necessary.
- Travel: Approximately 60% travel is required across the middle region of TN.
- Core Workdays & Hours: Typically, Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm Central Standard Time (EST).
