Do you want to be a part of a national security mission that conducts research and development?  Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) is seeking a full-time Senior Scientist to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide diagnostic fielding and development support in a national laboratory environment. The Stockpile Experimentation & Operations (SEO) organization is looking for a highly motivated Scientist to collaborate in design, development, characterization, and fielding of diagnostics systems on high stake weapons physics experiments conducted at the Principal Underground Laboratory for Subcritical Experiments (PULSE) and other facilities located at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). This Diagnostic Scientist will report primarily to the NNSS and will support fielding efforts for a wide variety of diagnostic detection and recording systems, with an emphasis on theory and practical applications of diagnostics systems such as electro-optical and radiographic imagining systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in and direct the day-to-day operations of the Radiographic Imaging and Analysis Team. 
• Deploy radiographic imaging systems in support of experiments conducted at PULSE.  
• Participate in and drive image data analysis to quantitatively assess diagnostic readiness and interrogate features of interest. 
• Routinely interface with NWL partners in support of radiographic imaging operations on behalf of the NNSS fielding team.
• Coordinate and deconflict work to support NNSS radiographic imaging operations in support of the execution of hydrodynamic and subcritical experiments. 
• Participate in long term scheduling meetings to prioritize and deconflict activities required to maintain experimental execution. 
• Serve as a Work Package Manager (WPM) and plan, prepare, and maintain a budget that supports NNSS radiographic imaging, fielding and analysis activities aligned with overall project schedule.
• Guide implementation and utilization of technology for both experimental and operational needs. 
• Serve as an internal subject matter expert in their discipline and is recognized by their colleagues as such. 
• Serve as lead on teams requiring coordination with other teams. Coordinates work with other project team members. 
• Provide expertise on operational goals. 
• In addition to fulfilling basic ESH&Q obligations: 
  • Assumes increased responsibility for safety as job responsibilities expand. 
  • Work may affect public health and safety.
  • May participate on a safety team.

• Bachelor’s degree in calculus-based technical (STEM) field plus at least 5 years relevant experience. Skill building experience must demonstrate either deeper technical specialization or additional cross-disciplinary knowledge. Graduate research experience may be recognized.
• Ability to builds teaming relationships with technical and other company organizations.
• Experience with electro-optical diagnostic systems is a plus.
• Experience with radiographic and optical imaging systems is a plus.
• Understanding of data analysis or engineering software such as MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, SolidWorks, or Creo is a plus.
• Working knowledge of office software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work underground required.
• Ability to function in a team environment, as they will
