As a Supplier Performance & Development Engineer,  you will have the responsibility to 1) Manage a portfolio of key suppliers to drive supplier improvements and achieve 95% OTD, Zero Defects and sustained performance, 2) monitor and assess supplier risks and opportunities within your region, 3) leverage the CORE Framework and Problem Solving to set and manage sustainable improvement strategies for these suppliers.

 

This individual requires frequent day travel to local suppliers (up to 70%) with occasional extended/overnight trips.  This individual is a remote position that must be focused in the Los Angeles, CA area.

What You Will Do:

• Execute Supplier Development Playbook at all assigned suppliers

• Create a 12month strategic improvement plan for each supplier

• Champion the shared supplier performance escalation process and coordinate and manage cross functional SBU engagement.

• Drive delivery (including overdue reduction) and quality improvement at each supplier by using diagnostic tools such as: Supplier Health Assessment (SHA), Supplier Readiness Assessment (SRA), APQP,  Zero Defect Plan (ZDP), and other RTX CORE tools as needed

• Work with suppliers to create Sustainable Improvement Plans (SIP) that will address gaps and opportunities you’ve identified. 

• Provide on-site support at suppliers within your region. 

• Communicate supplier strategic plans and actions to address missed targets to Regional Manager, and to the Regional Leader as needed

• Eliminate major risks that will prevent suppliers from meeting performance targets, and escalate as needed

• Drive cross functional and BU engagement to remove roadblocks necessary to improve supplier performance

• Prepare supplier executive summaries and present at SBU critical supplier reviews

• Participate in or lead process improvement projects to streamline Regional Supplier Performance Operations

• Must be willing to travel 70% of the time (majority day travel)

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience 

• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract 

• 3+ years of experience in Engineering/Manufacturing/Supply Chain/Shop Floor or related area with a continued proven track record of performance achievement, and growth with increased level of responsibility in an operations environment.

• 3+ years experience in Root Cause Corrective Action and Lean methodologies.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain or other related field

• Knowledge in APQP with practical experience implementing APQP in a supply base is highly favored.

• Experience in working with suppliers

• Experience developing suppliers and supplier relationships with knowledge of supply chain management in the Aerospace organization

• Project/program Management experience

• Leadership and communication experience across multiple disciplines

• Continuous improvement experience for 3+ years

• Audit, PPAP, FAI, and special process knowledge and experience
