Clinical Health Technology Support Specialist - Associate

About the role

This mission-critical role will under general supervision, provide frontline support for UT Health's clinical information system users. Jobs in this family are responsible for on-going support and initial troubleshooting encompassing UT Health's clinical information systems. This role provides tier one support for clinical information system issues and service requests, triage and escalation of more complex issues to the appropriate clinical application teams, and monitoring/updating the technical/application support ticketing system.

  • Troubleshoots tier one clinical information system issues and recommends solutions and alternatives to the clinical enterprise; may contact other local or remote experts for assistance with more difficult problems.  
  • Work closely with physicians and other clinical staff to provide clinical workflow assistance as the primary clinical information system contact for UT Health Physicians.  
  • Monitor assigned clinical information work system queue’s and resolved messages, as necessary.  
  • Experience with clinical information system applications such as: EPIC (EpicCare, Cadence, Resolute, Beacon).  
  • Documents all reported issues accurately, collecting all relevant information required to assist in resolution; triages issues to appropriate clinical application team, as necessary.  
  • Provide basic support for ancillary systems associated with delivery of clinical information systems to our customers (Citrix sessions, access troubleshooting, user account administration and support).  
  • Possess understanding of basic clinical information system workflows for both Clinical and Revenue Cycle applications.  
  • Research root cause of issues relating to the clinical information systems to include standard workflow issues, work queues and training deficiencies; may contact clinical application teams for assistance with more difficult problems.  
  • Ability to provide a quick response and resolution to clients; communicates issue resolution in a format understandable to clients.  
  • Consults with senior team members to determine clinical information system needs and recommend solutions.  
  • Possess basic technical knowledge of windows workstations and desktop printers.  
  • Provide support for affiliated hospital systems

  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), knowledge of EPIC (EHR) System software. basic knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems and network environments.  
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and follow complex instructions.  
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  
  • Ability to speak and interact with all levels of clinical practice users.  
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.  
  • Attention to Detail: The ability to maintain a professional demeanor, pay attention to details and set priorities in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Professionalism in delegating assignments and follow-up on project completion and accuracy.  
  • Ability to follow and provide complex instructions as well as to analyze and diagnose problems within the network environment.  

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Four (4) years of of related experience and/or a combination of an Associates degree and two (2) years of experience may also be considered.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Zero to one (0-1) years of experience is required.
