The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. Provides nursing care to patients in cardiac or respiratory failure receiving ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation). Includes monitoring and maintaining ECMO patients and rapid response for ECMO cannulation. Provides the management of oxygenation and carbon dioxide removal, maintains normal acid-base balance, and administers medications. Responsible for operating extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) equipment during procedures or therapy under the direction of a physician or perfusionist. Monitors the patient's status, ECMO circuit and pump functioning, and is responsible for identifying and correcting problems associated with ECMO procedures.

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• Critical care experience preferred.
