About This Opportunity
We are seeking an Energy Project Engineer II (PEII) to join Cascade Energy! The Energy Engineer II will work directly with our clients to assess their operations and identify opportunities for maximizing energy efficiency and performance in industrial systems. The Energy Engineer II takes a consultative role, gathers data, creates optimization models of industrial systems and writes feasibility reports for energy efficiency projects while leading overall management of projects. The Engineer II contributes to peer support and quality control review.
What You Will Be Doing
• Leading projects and providing overall management, direction, and accountability on assigned projects
• Calculating energy savings for various system or equipment changes using existing calculation tools, original spreadsheets, and/or generally accepted methodologies
• Engaging with clients at their industrial locations to fully understand their equipment and operations and identify opportunities for energy efficiency
• Fostering and growing client relationships and identifying opportunities for generating additional work from current clients
• Discussing or explaining complex technical issues with a diverse audience on their level in a way that facilitates understanding and consensus
• Composing energy efficiency project reports based on analyses and observations
• Documenting performance through data collection from customer sources or via installed data logging equipment
• Maintaining a solid understanding of utility programs and their compliance requirements
• Provide peer support through technical discussions and work review
This is a full-time, exempt position located in the Salt Lake City, UT area. The team is usually in-office 1 day per week. There will be site visits as needed and an occasional overnight site visit.
Qualifications
Applicants for this role are required to have:
• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field of study
• 3 – 5 years of engineering experience
• Some technical knowledge of refrigeration, compressed air systems, steam systems, custom computer modeling of systems, electrical distribution system design, industrial control and data-logging of system results
• Experience with industrial facilities, energy efficiency, and data analysis
A successful candidate should also demonstrate these preferred characteristics and/or skills:
• Experience from Industrial Assessment Centers is a plus
• Familiarity or experience in Python
As our work in other areas continues to grow, we would be thrilled if you had any of these additional skillsets:
• Decarbonization audit/planning work
• Gas efficiency experience or experience working with industrial steam boilers
• Energy efficiency project management such as corporate or plant energy management background

Compensation & Benefits
Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. The hiring pay target for this position in Salt Lake City, Utah is $77,400 - $96,800. However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
