Job Description

Vattenfall is currently searching for the right person to fill the permanent position of Project Manager (within the Operating Unit Heat Projects) to oversee development and execution of large and complex capital projects in Sweden.

Leveraging the best expertise across Europe, Vattenfall is organized under the roof of Business Area Heat (BA Heat) and focused on the delivery of industry leading renewable district heating solutions in Sweden, Germany, Netherlands and the UK.

 
Filling the role of Project Manager you will be part of the team of the Vattenfall “Operating Unit Heat Projects” (OU Heat Projects). OU Heat Projects is responsible for the development and realization of all asset related projects across the BA Heat, leveraging experience and resources across all of our core markets (Sweden, Germany, Netherlands and the UK).

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the development and realization of a multi-million investment project in line with the outlined objectives, business drivers and the Vattenfall project management model and governance. You will be supported by a project team from OU Heat Projects´ competence and resource pools, tools and systems.

 You will be responsible for the day to day management of the project ensuring it is delivered safely, and within required time, budget and quality.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Reinforcing robust management of health and safety to industry best practice
  • Planning, managing, executing and controlling the project with responsibility for budget, deadlines, quality, occupational safety and risk management, from concept development, construction to the start of commercial operation of a new plant
  • Development of the concrete project planning and control
  • Planning and definition of work packages for all parts of the project
  • Development and control/monitoring of contracts with suppliers and service providers
  • Coordination and determination of the planning results with the decision makers
  • Proactive management of the critical path and, execution of subordinate tasks
  • Reporting on key Performance Indices to target
  • Continuous management of various tiers of the project program
  • Leadership of the project multi-disciplinary team
  • Resourcing and cost management
  • Ensuring a high standard of information/ configuration management
  • Responsible for keeping the project running to time, cost and quality with support and input within a matrix organization

Qualifications

To be successful, you should bring:

  • University degree, preferably in an engineering or business discipline
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a project manager or other senior role in power, heat or CHP projects especially during development phase; experience with similar projects is preferred.
  • Negotiating skills, eagerness to understand the interests of counterparties, willingness to compromise and persuasiveness.
  • You gained proven multi-year project experience in a commercial area and technical area (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering/ I&C, process engineering, civil engineering), in particular in dealing with partner companies that have both partially joint and deviating business interests.
  • Financial and good basic mathematical skill to be able to judge the impact on the asset development on the position of various parties.
  • Project management qualification (e.g: IPMA certification or similar qualifications)
  • Proven experience in leading project teams in the Swedish market
  • You are an inspirational leader, working in teams motivates you, and you are able to build a bridge between the project and all internal and external stakeholders relevant for success
  • High degree of competence with software including: Office 365 suite (Word/ Excel Planner); MS Project
