The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Online Career & Internship Coordinator, UNLV Career and Life Design (REMOTE OR FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULE) [R0142333]
ROLE of the POSITION
The Online Career and Internship Coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating career development and internship engagement for UNLV students through virtual platforms, programs, events and services. Reporting to the Director of Career and Life Design with a dotted line to the Executive Director of Workforce Education, the Career and Internship Coordinator for Online Services helps advance the mission to prepare and support the career success of diverse and dynamic students at UNLV. This role involves close collaboration and partnership with the Office of Online Education as well as faculty, staff and key campus partners to ensure effective coordination of career-related services and internship programs including remote opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
1. Develop and deliver virtual programs and workshops to enhance students’ career and internship readiness.
2. Assist with coordination and promotion of virtual employer events to connect students with potential employers
3. Provide individualized career advising and coaching to students via online platforms to assist with internship application processes as well as resume and cover letter development, job search strategy
4. Cultivate relationships with campus internship coordinators, Rebel Career Champions Network (RCCN) and key faculty across disciplines to connect employers, students and internship opportunities
5. Collaborate closely with the Director of Online Student Experience (Office of Online Education) and academic departments to integrate career development activities and internship engagement requirements for curricular experiences.
6. Develop and maintain tracking systems and manage databases for student participation, progress and completion, internship site approval and monitoring and employer interactions.
7. Stay informed and communicate industry trends, labor market information, and best practices in internship programs to guide students and employers and campus partners. effectively and promote access and equity.
8. Assess effectiveness of internship programs and online services/programs through surveys, focus groups and other evaluation methods. Make recommendations for improvement.
9. Serve as a liaison between students, employers, faculty and other stakeholders to address concerns and facilitate effective and consistent communication.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 1-3 years’ experience in counseling/coaching, higher education, career & professional development or related field. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree with 3-5 years’ experience with career and life design coaching and with career services delivery to diverse college student populations. Experience with online student populations is a plus.
