Recursion's approach to neuroscience therapeutic discovery leverages the largest proprietary biological and chemical dataset ever built-in human CNS relevant cell types to discover medicines unconstrained by human bias and research precedent. We are seeking a Senior Director, Neuroscience Platform that will partner with others to build a portfolio in support of neurodegenerative, neurodevelopment and neuroimmunology diseases. In collaboration with our biopharma partners, you will lead a cross functional team of cellular biologists to generate advanced models of neurobiology in a multiomics approach to exploit Recursion's maps of neurobiology. These maps and the Recursion OS leverage the largest ever proprietary biological and chemical dataset built in human CNS relevant cell types. As an external-facing leader, you will work closely with our partners to understand and apply our differentiated approach to drug discovery.
In this role, you will:
- Lead overseeing the development of assays of cellular neurobiology in a multi omics environment exploiting phenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, etc in partnership with external parties
- Advocate for Recursion's industry-leading platform, reimagining neuroscience drug discovery through collaboration with scientific leaders, computational biologists, chemists, etc across the neuroscience organization.
- Facilitate innovative drug discovery program builds using Recursion's inference-based approach and industrialized processes, focusing on the field of neurobiology
- Coordinate with our business development team and partners, ensuring delivery goals and project expectations are satisfied
- Drive the building of Platform and Discovery processes by liaising with internal and external groups to identify novel drug targets, pathways, and mechanisms for neurologic diseases, accelerating their clinical progress
Location:
This position is based at our headquarters in Salt Lake City, UT. Relocation will be available for candidates who are not local to the area.
The Team You’ll Join
Reporting to the VP of Neuroscience, you will be joining Recursion’s partnership with Roche-Genentech as a key leader. In this role you will lead a team dedicated to the building of novel technology in neurodegenerative diseases exploiting Recursion’s maps of neurobiology. This team exploits a multi-omic approach toward the establishment and validation of novel hypotheses in neuroscience disease biology.
The Experience You’ll Need
- Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related life science discipline and a minimum of 10+ years experience in the biotech or pharma industry
- Experience successfully building decision making cellular neuronal assays that enable the driving of therapeutic program from early drug discovery to the clinic
- Familiarity with latest technological approaches (e.g. iPSC models) and proven experience applying them to solve neuroscience-related questions
- Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with scientific and strategic stakeholders
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate both science and vision
- Experience leading high-performing teams in a cross-functional matrix organization
- Bonus points for experience with high-visibility external collaborations with or within large pharma

At Recursion, we believe that every employee should be compensated fairly. Based on the skill and level of experience required for this role, the estimated current annual base range for this role is:
- Developing: $206,000
- Skilled: $229,000
- Expert: $252,000
