Staff Accountant

Position: Staff Accountant

Job Description:

The ideal Staff Accountant candidate will have experience in an Accountant role within a publicly held company. Experience in transportation services, distribution, or manufacturing is strongly desired. The Staff Accountant will assist in the preparation of accurate financial reporting at various levels.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

• Prepare weekly reporting for Operational and Sales groups 
• Assists in the preparation of monthly and quarterly journal entries 
• Assists in the preparation of the monthly and quarterly closing processes for financial reporting 
• Fixed Asset Accounting – entering and retiring company owned assets in Fixed Asset sub-system 
• Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts 
• Prepare financial and analytical schedules as assigned 
• Assist auditors with support during quarterly reviews and year-end audit 
• Assist the CFO and Controller with assigned projects 
• Assist Internal Audit with requests and documentation 
• Assists with budget planning and preparation 
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting  
• CPA certification is desired 
• Experience in transportation services, distribution, or manufacturing is preferred 
• Knowledge of GAAP and other accounting concepts and experience in their application 
• Highly organized, and has a strong attention to detail 
• Strong work ethic, high integrity 
• Excellent communication skills 
• Knowledge of reporting tools & other MIS tools 
• Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel

• Interpersonal skills necessary to build effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization 
• Strong organization, prioritization, project management and consulting skill set
