Description
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for providing complex care to children with special and lifelong health care needs, such as being wheelchair bound, speech issues, developmental issues, autism, ADHD, and other areas of need.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The duties of this role will include but are not limited to the following:
Management of complex medical conditions, as well as behavioral, nutritional, equipment, and educational need for treatment of acute conditions when needed.
Performing detailed examinations of the patient.
Creating and implementing treatment plans.
Coordinating with other medical professionals and specialists as necessary, as well as equipment needs, under the supervision of clinic faculty.
Ordering, and interpreting diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays, performing minor in clinic procedures, parent, and family education.
Updating medical records and completing progress notes on time.
Supports and assists with clinic quality improvement projects.
Direct contact with DMEs, pharmacies, and insurance companies (peer-peer) required to expedite patient’s medications, supplies and equipment.
Triage of new patients to expedite appointments for those with more urgent needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in nursing or physician assistant studies. Current Texas Advanced Practice Registered licensure.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The preferred candidate will possess Pediatric clinical practice work.
Preferred applicants that lack previous Pediatric clinical practice work experience may also demonstrate a special interest in working with this patient population through alternative experience, including a history of volunteering or advocacy.
Ideal applicants will be looking to establish long-term relationships with their patients, families, and the medical team.
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
JOB SUMMARY
Performs responsible clinical care in collaboration with the unit physician and under approved protocols, manages the medical aspects of care in the observation, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, evaluation, rehabilitation, care and counsel, and health teachings of persons who are ill, injured or infirm or experiencing changes in normal health processes; and in the promotion and maintenance of health of prevention of illness in a clinical setting.
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
- No experience required
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas Physician Assist
