This position provides technical leadership and support for the plant. This position leads plant engineering and provides leadership for the maintenance department. This position is responsible for capital planning, coordination, and implementation. In addition, this position provides safety and environmental technical support including regulatory compliance and service requirements.
Essential Duties
Provide planning, direction, and coordination for all technical activities while achieving optimum use of workers, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Provide direct technical support or coordinate technical services to ensure line efficiencies, safety, and environmental requirements are met.
Ensure preventative and predictive maintenance tasks and schedules are developed and followed for all relevant equipment.
Ensure equipment parts are stocked and maintained to support equipment repairs and preventative services.
Coordinate or provide technical training to technical staff including developing machine-specific technical instructions.
Prepare and control the department's annual expense budget, forecast operating costs of the department, and reporting of department budget results monthly.
Support and initiate cost reduction activity.
Develop capital plan working with plant stakeholders and corporate engineering.
Maintain records of plant equipment including specifications, design rates, and constraints.
Develop and maintain master plans to improve plant technologies, including making, packing, warehouse, facilities, utilities, and power and controls.
Own the utility systems at the plant.
Partner with Manufacturing to ensure proper maintenance of all utility equipment including the use of standards.
Develop and maintain models for utility usage on the site based on key drivers to ensure utility efficiency.
Identify loss opportunities and methods to drive utility improvements & savings.
Qualifications
At least 5 years of experience leading engineering, maintenance, and technical service groups.
A technical or engineering degree is preferred.
Demonstrated experience in high-speed food processing/packaging.
Demonstrated experience leading technical employees.
Demonstrated experience in scheduling planned maintenance activities.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Must have electrical and mechanical skills.
Must be able to develop, control, and report on project management activities.
