Non-Tenure: Visiting Lecturer of Film and Media Studies

The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts (PVFA) at Texas A&M  University invites applications for one (1) full-time, non-tenure track visiting lecturer position in film studies with a nine-month appointment. The start date for this position is August 18, 2025. PVFA and the Section of Visual, Material & Performance Cultures seek an individual to teach two survey courses, History of Film (1895-present, with a global perspective) and Introduction to Film Analysis. The position also includes academic service. The survey courses are typically taught as large lecture classes (both face-to-face and online delivery) that serve undergraduate minors in film and media studies, the major in Performance and Visual Studies, and the University Core Curriculum. Candidates with expertise in non-Western cinemas are especially encouraged to apply.

The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts (PVFA) is a new college withing the Texas A&M University System and has a diverse and dynamic mission with 100 faculty and over 30 staff members and projected exponential growth in the next four years. The college was formed from three departments/programs spread across the university: the Department of Visualization, the Department of Performance Studies (which housed the Film Studies program), and the Dance Science Program. The mission of PVFA places a heavy emphasis on faculty and student collaboration and interdisciplinarity. Qualifications

Candidates must have an M.A. in film studies, media studies, visual studies or a related field and significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or in a related field by the appointment start date. Preference will be given to applicants with a Ph.D. in film studies and university teaching experience.
