Senior Chemist - Analytical Research & Development

Location: Central NJ

Our client, a rapidly growing pharmaceutical company based in Central NJ, is seeking a Senior Chemist to join their Analytical Research & Development Labs. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in analytical method development, method validation, and product characterization studies, contributing to the development of innovative pharmaceutical products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform analytical method development, method validation, and troubleshooting with minimal guidance.
  • Conduct physical characterization studies to enhance product understanding.
  • Serve as the analytical lead on designated projects, providing technical input for investigations.
  • Prepare technical reports and scientific packages for both internal and external use.
  • Adhere to company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate as the Analytical R&D lead for development projects and coordinate with the Product Development (PD) department.
  • Operate a variety of analytical instruments, including HPLC, GC, UV/Vis, IR, TLC, titration, ICP-MS, LC-MS, and dissolution apparatus.
  • Develop and troubleshoot analytical methods for in-process (IP), finished product (FP), and stability (ST) sample testing.
  • Conduct laboratory analyses of raw materials and samples.
  • Design and execute physical characterization studies, such as rheological, microscopy, surface area, and thermal studies.
  • Perform reverse engineering studies of Reference Listed Drug (RLD) to support product development.
  • Lead pre-formulation studies, including pH solubility, pH stability, and excipient compatibility, in collaboration with the PD team.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a BS/MS/Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field.
  • 2-12 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry is required.
  • Proficiency in analytical method development and validation.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical product characterization techniques.
  • Experience with a range of analytical instruments and techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate projects effectively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Adherence to industry regulations and quality standards.
