Job Description

Job duties/responsibilities:

• Conducting independent and collaborative research in the area of functional food components and substrate-microbiome-host interactions.
• Supporting proposal writing, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
• Managing lab operations, supervising student researchers, and overseeing compliance and safety.
• Contributing to translational research and industry partnerships.
• Other duties as assigned

Required Education:

• PhD or related degree in a life or physical science

Preferred Education:

• PhD in food microbiology, food science or a related field

Preferred Experience:

• Previous human clinical research experience, experience in nutrition and food science, instructional experience.
• Experience in molecular protein and nucleic acid analysis techniques, microbial fermentation, molecular biology, cell culture and experimental design.
• Ability to mentor students and postdocs.
• Prior involvement in grant funded projects
• Strong publication record.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to interact and work effectively as a team member.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Good computer and communication skills.

This is a 100% research appointment with potential for renewal based on performance and funding.
