Are you an experienced auditor with a keen eye for detail and a passion for improving business processes? AkzoNobel is looking for a Senior Internal Auditor to join our team. In this role, you will conduct audits across various operational areas, providing assurance on processes and advising management on risk and control improvements. Responsibilities
- Contribute to and coordinate the preparation, execution, and reporting on assigned internal audits.
- Provide assurance on operational processes and advise management on risks and internal controls improvements.
- Conduct audit work to assess the design and operating effectiveness of the internal control framework.
- Act as a sparring partner on risks and controls for the audit client.
- Recommend practical improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of processes, controls, and risk mitigation.
- Act as lead auditor for specific audit engagements, coordinating and tracking audit progress.
- Gather and analyze information through planning calls, data review, and document requests.
- Validate process understanding, identify risks, and verify control effectiveness with process owners.
- Develop test approaches for key controls, document audit work, and suggest improvements.
- Present audit conclusions and recommendations to clients and higher management.
- Complete audit documentation, draft reports, and facilitate management comment resolution.
- Verify closure of management actions in the follow-up stage.
- Stay up-to-date on audit procedures and regulations and share learning with the team.
- Support IT tooling and processes that aid in managing audits.
What do you need to have to be successful in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, auditing, economic, business administration, or information technology.
- Preparing for professional audit certification such as CIA, RA, RO, RC, CPA, or CISA.
- At least 4 years of audit experience in public accounting and/or a large internal audit function, ideally within a large or mid-sized international manufacturing company.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and their application.
- Professional skepticism, critical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Sensitivity to deadlines and budget constraints.
- Strong presentation, report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with different cultures and management styles.
- Willingness to travel worldwide (40-45% of the time, including weekends, but for a maximum of two consecutive weeks).
