This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides technical support. Responsibilities may include computer programming or operations; research support; medical patient care; technical equipment maintenance, repair, fabrication or operation; or other technical support functions.

Unit Position Summary

Precision Livestock Technology (PLT) has the potential to improve beef operation productivity and sustainability by addressing challenges such as calving difficulties and reproductive inefficiencies through real-time monitoring of animal health and behavior. Despite adoption hurdles, implementing PLT can enhance herd management, reduce veterinary cost, and improve profitability, while aligning with industry priorities for better animal welfare, sustainability, and technological integration. 

Desired Qualifications

The person in this role will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and management of the PLT systems in the beef operation. This includes coordinating the deployment of wearable sensors to monitor animal health, and reproductive indicators. The individual will work closely with farm staff and researchers to ensure that the sensors are properly installed, maintained, to ensure accurate data collection.
