THE POSITION

FanDuel is looking for a Senior Data Scientist who specializes in customer behavior modeling to join our team. In this role you will develop and implement advanced models focused on enhancing user experiences and a deep understanding of customer behavior through the marketing, product, fraud, and analytics lens. This role requires a strong background in data science, machine learning, and a deep understanding of customer analytics. You will be part of a group of data scientists and engineers to continually evolve the various tools, models, and data visualizations to continue and keep our customers safe and enhance the customer journey.


THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play

  • Develop and implement advanced statistical and machine learning models to predict future behaviors, developing automated logic and decision algorithms to deliver a better experience to the customer
  • Perform analysis on large and complex data sets utilizing relevant tools (SQL, Python, Spark) and provide actionable insights into user preferences, customer segmentations, and anomalous/fraudulent activity
  • Collaborate on a wide array of product and business problems across Marketing, Fraud and Payments, Responsible Gaming, Product, and Marketing.
  • Develop experimentation frameworks, define evaluation metrics, determine the proper design and setup for experiments and conduct manual/ad-hoc analysis
  • Lead projects from start to finish, set proper expectations, and collaborate with other data scientists, ML engineers, and product managers to communicate technical findings and support data driven decision making
  • Mentor, brainstorm with, and enable others within the DS team and broader Data organization


THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Science creating and deploying models
  • Extensive experience in data science, machine learning, and statistical modeling, with a proven track record of leading successful projects
  • Deep understanding of the technical elements required to build customer-centric and risk models
  • Bachelor's Degree in a highly numerate major (Math, Stats, Econ, etc.) or relevant experience in data and/or business analysis 
  • Experience delivering model result to business users and have recommendation implemented 
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python required 
  • Experience with tech stacks such as MLFlow, Spark, Databricks, Sagemaker
  • Can write production level code, understand principles of programming 
  • Experience working in groups and being part of smaller intra year projects
