Director, Amazon User Experiences

About the role
Amazon.com is looking for a senior leader to own the product design experience, as well as engineering, for IT services. In this role you will manage Software and Product Managers, as well as a large engineering team, to re imagine, redefine, and build the tools technicians and engineers use as well as the flagship experiences needed to keep all Amazonians connected and productive.
Your team will work closely with IT Services and the Enterprise Engineering team to create a world class user experience. You will develop and deliver simple scalable technology solutions to complex multi-faceted challenges, anticipate the needs of customers, and guide the construction of customer obsessed iterative roadmaps. You will proactively identify and resolve strategic issues and lead the teams delivering the solutions. Other key responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining operational excellence and owning the roadmap, vision and long-term plan for your organization.
This is a leadership role that will include interaction with senior leaders and teams across Amazon and AWS. Requiring a strong ability to communicate effectively and understand the different needs of global customers. You will develop mechanisms that allow you to scale yourself and your team while delivering and maintaining high quality systems and customer experiences. In this role you will build tools and services that will allow all Amazonians a better experience when using both 1st and 3rd party apps. As well as drive accessible and inclusive product innovation that will allow faster and easier resolution of Amazonians daily troubleshooting needs. This role will require you to solve complex problems in a constantly evolving space that impacts every team within Amazon, AWS, and its subsidiaries.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $237,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $350,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Key job responsibilities
Basic Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience building and managing product teams that design and deliver large distributed systems
- 5+ years of experience managing and effectively operating a complex system that is highly reliable and scalable
- Bachelors in Computer Science or Engineering or similar
- Experience developing and running long-term vision and strategy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading a team that developed “Experience Engineering” products or services for internal teams
- Experience working with internal IT services teams
- Proven track record of building, shipping and operating enterprise software products
- Proven ability to create innovated products, that are inclusive and accessible
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to drive cross-team collaboration
- Consistent record of hiring, developing and managing high performing engineering and product teams
