IE University´s School of Science and Technology invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Mechanical Engineering.

The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching of undergraduate courses such as Mechanics, Dynamic Systems, and Thermodynamics. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong research record in a field closely related to:

  • Thermal and Energy systems
  • Computational and experimental mechanics
  • Artificial intelligence for modelling and control
  • Cyber-physical systems, robotics, and control engineering
  • Mechanical systems design, mechatronics, or smart manufacturing

A doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Prior teaching experience and evidence of academic or professional contributions in the field will be viewed favorably.

Faculty are expected to engage in high-quality research, pursue external funding, and contribute to curriculum development and university service.

We value candidates with the capacity to collaborate in applied research projects led by the Impact Xcelerator at IE School of Science and Technology, specifically in Sustainable Energy & Thermal Systems, Cyber-Physical Systems & Smart Manufacturing, and AI-driven Control for Engineering Applications.

The ability to contribute to multidisciplinary research initiatives that apply mechanical engineering expertise to design efficient, resilient, and innovative engineering solutions will be key to the role’s success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels in Mechanical Engineering, including Mechanics, Dynamic Systems, Thermodynamics, and related areas.
  • Conduct high-impact research in areas such as thermal and energy systems, computational and experimental mechanics, AI for modeling and control, and cyber-physical systems, while actively securing competitive research funds.
  • Supervise and mentor students across undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs.
  • Collaborate with industry and research partners on innovative projects in smart manufacturing, automation, sustainable energy, and intelligent mechanical systems.
  • Play an active role in curriculum development, incorporating emerging trends such as mechatronics, robotics, smart manufacturing, and Industry 4.0.
  • Participate in academic service and contribute to the strategic growth of the School of Science and Technology.
