About the role
Cozen O’Connor’s Philadelphia office is seeking an Escrow Accounting Manager to work within the Finance Department. We currently offer a hybrid work schedule, 3 days in the office, 2 days’ work from home. Come and work with one of the top 100 law firms in the country.
- Manage and develop a team of escrow accounting staff
- Manage daily client funds workflow for hourly and contingent legal practices, as well as ancillary businesses
- Manage over 50 client escrow accounts, including foreign accounts
- Manage the legal license renewal process including gathering and delivering information needed for annual filings and maintaining the internal database
- Handle various banking needs along with the Treasury Specialist
- Lead annual audits of client escrow accounts for various jurisdictions
- Ensure internal controls are in place and properly followed and assist with developing additional controls
- Lead project work related to implementation of new software and various process improvements
- Identify and address special client needs for various legal practices
- Handle human resources issues for the team including written and verbal performance evaluations, pay increase considerations, addressing performance concerns and evaluation of the overall team structure
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience
- Prior law firm experience and working knowledge of legal financial software (Elite or Aderant) are a major plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Office for Windows and strong Excel skills are required
- Strong analytical and communication skills, initiative, and accuracy are essential
- Ability to work in a detail oriented environment
- Must be proactive, work well as part of a team, operate well under pressure and work well in a fast paced environment
- Customer service oriented and professional demeanor required
- Proven ability to lead a team in a continuously changing environment
- Forward thinking and able to identify risk areas and implement necessary processes to manage risks
