Job Summary

 

The Lead Cloud Engineer will have shared responsibilities to plan, design, build and maintain Harley Davidson’s Cloud Platforms utilizing automation and DevOps methodologies to deliver desired business values. The ideal candidate is experienced in MS Azure Cloud technologies or similar with a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, and ability to customize them.
The Lead Cloud Platform Engineer will also work with the team to proactively ensure the repeatability, stability, resilience, and scale of all cloud services across the organization and ensure the cloud services are available, cost optimized and fit for purpose early in the development lifecycle.

 

  • Individual contributor role with cross functional responsibilities.
  • Architecture, design, and delivery of technology solutions within one or more technical disciplines in a manner that returns quantified business value.
  • Leading the design, configuration, and implementation of technical solution governance across diverse global functional business areas.
  • Delivers efficient solution designs aligning with system strategies, capabilities, and technologies, addressing both current and future business needs.
  • Ensure seamless end-to-end integration of solutions, conduct essential integration testing, and validate technology adherence to Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Build, improve, and reimagine platform capabilities and services.
  • Address technical needs: automation/self-service, security regarding identity and access, data protection, CICD security, high availability, disaster recovery, monitoring, scalability, self-healing, performance management and cost optimization.
  • Define security requirements and ensure compliance through the design of new solutions or modifications to existing ones.
  • Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
  • Lead and support cloud cost optimization and governance.
  • Evaluate potential vendors and products to determine which provide the best fit for the organization’s needs.
  • Create and publish critical documentation for new systems and updating documentation for existing systems as needed.
  • Efficiently hand over implemented solutions to the Operations team and provide training to empower employees in utilizing modern technology platforms or systems.
  • Providing technical support for complex problems or issues that arise with existing applications or systems.
  • Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to development teams.
  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful designs.
  • Verify cloud service model meets appropriate compliance/governance requirements.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Education Specifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is Preferred

Experience Requirements

 

  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in automation, configuration management and deployment of enterprise scale infrastructures.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) or other languages such as ARM & Bicep
  • Experience using source control with GitHub & building / maintaining GitHub actions pipelines.
  • Sound understanding of Identity & Access Management.
  • MS Windows/Linux setup, configuration, patching and upgrades.
