About the role

The Team:

Leading the team in the North based at Launceston this senior operational leader is responsible for managing ambulance and non‑emergency patient transport services across a defined region, ensuring high‑quality service delivery and efficient use of all financial, human and physical resources. Provide strategic and operational planning support to the Chief Executive and Executive Director Operations in alignment with the Ambulance Tasmania Business Plan. Contribute to service‑wide performance management through setting and monitoring operational, clinical and financial standards; establishing planning objectives; developing effective information and feedback systems; and analysing actual performance against agreed benchmarks. Oversee statewide portfolios as delegated, driving consistency, effectiveness and organisational improvement across Ambulance Tasmania.

The Role:

Senior leader accountable for the delivery of high‑quality patient care and the effective management of all financial, administrative and operational functions within the region. Provide strategic and operational oversight of ambulance and non‑emergency patient transport services, ensuring compliance with legislation, policy and statewide procedures. Monitor performance standards, response performance and quality assurance, and provide timely reporting to the Executive Director Operations, including Ministerial and departmental briefings. Lead regional emergency management and business continuity planning in collaboration with other emergency services. Ensure equitable employment practices, workforce capability development and completion of performance reviews for all staff. Build strong relationships with regional utilities and service partners, and lead Work Health & Safety policy implementation to maintain a safe, healthy and accountable workplace. Actively support staff welfare, grievance resolution and positive workplace behaviours aligned with organisational values and the Code of Conduct. Contribute to organisation‑wide quality, safety and WHS systems, continuous improvement initiatives and safeguarding practices, while undertaking additional duties consistent with the role’s scope and classification.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary management practices with the ability to manage human, financial, and physical resources and lead a successful multidisciplinary team. 
  • High level strategic, analytical, and critical reasoning skills with experience in the identification, modification, and ongoing development of performance standards to drive improvements within Ambulance Tasmania’s services response model. 
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to foster positive relationships across the Agency and external health and emergency services.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 12 months.

Salary: $178,112 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
