JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Office of Admissions at Penn State Law in University Park, PA is seeking a part-time J.D. application reviewer. The ideal candidate would be able to devote 8-10 hours a week (working from home) with a goal of reviewing 25-30 files. Training will be provided. Responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing and making recommendations on admissions applications to the J.D. program;
• Using holistic evaluation methods to make a comprehensive assessment of each candidate;
• Understanding institutional objectives and making recommendations in support of such;
• Providing feedback on relevant aspects of application;
• Keeping accurate notes and file management in application management database;
• Remaining up-to-date on file load and decision recommendations;
• Participate in weekly Admissions Office meetings;
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications include:

• Experience reviewing admissions applications and making recommendations or rendering decisions;
• Thorough knowledge of admissions best practices;
• Excellent judgment, discretion, organization, time-management and communication skills;
• Commitment to supporting the diversity of the law school student body;
• Excellent critical thinking and reading comprehension skills.

Prior admissions and application review experience at the law school or graduate level is preferred, but not required.
