We are seeking a HMBMT/PedOnc Associate Administrator who will be in a leadership role in the SKCCC Divisions of Hematologic Malignancies/Bone Marrow Transplant Program (HMBMT) and Pediatric Oncology. In collaboration with the Division Directors and Oncology Administration, the candidate will oversee planning, administration, business development, JHH hospital operations and the faculty clinical practice. Areas of responsibility include administrative operations for JHH ambulatory, Immune Effector Cell Therapies including CAR T, and IPOP, faculty clinical practice at JHH, Sibley, and GSS, compliance, personnel management, marketing, and outreach. Ensures the continued growth of Divisions through business and facilities planning. Partners with financial leaders to ensure financial goals of the divisions are achieved. Partners with the Clinical Trials Program Manager to ensure clinical research goals are achieved. Partners with the Advanced Practice Providers (APP) leadership to ensure all APP provider goals are met. Candidate will report to the Division Directors and Oncology Administrator.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with Directors to develop a strategic plan and direction for the program.
- Review and prepare business plans for existing units or potential new business opportunities.
- Assesses the market, locally, regionally and nationally to understand how the Johns Hopkins program ranks in terms of reputation, volume and best practices.
- Understands the Maryland health care reimbursement environment, and the national reimbursement environment, including global pricing, in conjunction with the Johns Hopkins Health Care managed care team. Partners with JHM leadership, the Managed Care Office, and Program leaders to implement strategies to optimize Divisional financial performance.
- Assists with the creation of documentation tools to accurately capture case mix index.
- Provides direct oversight of administrative and operational activities of the Program.
- Oversees human resource management and ensures infrastructure to support recruitment, retention, performance management, on and off-boarding, training and development, workflow and performance management.
- Analyze and implement staff structure, capabilities and development to meet the current and future needs of the program.
- Consults as needed with Human Resources on employment and compensation issues, performance management issues, disciplinary actions, and salary planning.
- Leads routine meetings between faculty leadership, financial and clinical research leadership to achieve programmatic goals and objectives and to maintain open lines of communication.
Clinical Practice Administration
- Manages the clinical practice across clinical locations including JHH ambulatory, inpatient, IPOP, GSS and Sibley. Ensures effective and efficient provider workflows and tools to accomplish clinical practice goals and objectives.
- Assists providers with the adoption of best practices and work habits to ensure compliance with Institutional standards and guidelines.
- Ensures optimal staffing and coverage for clinical services.
- Manages all faculty activities related to the HMBMT clinical practice including oversight of provider session planning, room allocation, and templates. In conjunction with Division Directors, establishes clinical effort and expectations for faculty.
- Implements policies and develops tools and procedures to meet or exceed key performance indicators defined by Clinical Practice Association, JHH leadership, and Program leadership.
- Implements systems and controls to optimize revenue and ensure timely submission of charges and closing of encounters. Identifies problem areas, analyzes data, and develops performance improvement plans.
- Develops Divisional dashboards to establish regular reporting of clinical metrics, clinical productivity and financial performance.
- Liaises with hospital leadership and operations managers to accomplish practice goals and objectives and vice versa.
- On boards all new clinical faculty and staff and ensures provider credentialing, compliance and training requirements are met prior to initiating clinical activity. Ensures provider credentialing, compliance and training requirements are met prior to initiating clinical activity.
- Partners with the Oncology Clinical Director and Administrators in strategic planning and special projects. Serves on committees as directed.
