The Research Technician Specialist in Wyandotte will play a role in the research activities and experiments to accomplish project objectives. The primary responsibility for this position is to work in close partnership with the Research Scientist to carry out application experiments on laboratory scale and pilot plant scale equipment to support the research projects. These tasks include the following.
During your time as a Research Technician Specialist, you will…
- Conceptualize new projects and programs while setting a research direction that provides innovation and breakthrough advantages for the business.
- Interact frequently with colleagues as well as with customers, suppliers, consultants, universities, and government agencies, and play a leadership role in industry conferences and technical societies
- Prepare samples of prototype products at laboratory or at pilot scale, and do so independently
- Possess and aptitude for observing, making suggestions and timely communication of results, issues, concerns, and innovative ideas
- Willing to work with pilot plant equipment in an industrial environment
- Cast or apply the product samples to make realistic parts for testing, and do so independently.
- Independently perform tests on prototype parts using agreed-upon test procedures, and record the results.
- Support integrity of quality system with adherence to test methods, calibration and record-keeping procedures
If you have...
- 5-years of chemical laboratory experience OR Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of chemical laboratory experience preferred.
- Previous experience with polyurethane products is desirable. Experience with related products, such as adhesives, coatings, plastics processing or lubricants, is also desirable.
- Detailed observations and provide accurate documentation in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of math, science, simple spreadsheet programs, and basic Windows computer operation is required.
- Physical requirements: ability to lift up to 40 pounds; Frequent standing, sitting and walking.
- Experience with spray foam or spray coatings is highly desired.
