We are seeking a professional like you to be part of the Automation, Controls and Electrical team within the Technical Expertise department. We expect a highly qualified individual who will identify, champion, implement and maintain Process Automation Systems, specializing in the Process Analyzer Technology area. This position is part of the global E&M Strategy to establish and build up knowledge in Process Analytics in the North American region. You will provide a key contribution to the North American manufacturing sites on their Journey to Operational Excellence.
As a Process Analyzer Staff Engineer, you create chemistry by…
- Implementing new analytical solutions, which includes developing the design & detail engineering scope of work, collaborating with various stakeholders, providing expertise on various analytical technologies, while adhering to established technical practices and procedures.
- Providing leadership on project teams, which will include assisting with developing project approval packages, participating in approval review meetings, developing packages for contractors/vendors, and supporting contractor selection.
- Providing expertise on Process Analyzer technology to all regions of BASF. You will actively work and lead regional and global process analyzer teams to provide evaluations of new analytical technologies, assistance to the process analyzer community globally on applications, and build continuous improvement into the process analytical discipline.
- Identifying and developing cost/benefit analysis for potential new projects in the Process Analyzer Technology arena, also providing integration / divestiture support through risk assessments, Analyzer connectivity reviews, and coordination with the IT department to assure Analyzer connectivity protection.
If you...
- Have education in Chemical and Process Engineering combined with your work experience in the chemical industry with emphasis on Process Analyzers, Analytical Equipment, and general automation.
- Have knowledge in the fundamentals of unit operations, such as batch and continuous reactions, distillation towers, heat exchangers and extraction processes and your deep knowledge of the BASF partnered Analyzer and Instrumentation suppliers.
- Can demonstrate your expertise in various online techniques like Gas Chromatography (GCs), Total Organic Carbobn (TOCs), various optical principles like Infrared (IR), Near Infrared (NIR), Raman etc., experience in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Automation, as well as your strong knowledge of networking and interaction between Analyzers, DCS, SIS, SCADA, Lab Information Management System (LIMS), Plant Information Management System (PIMs), and IS Systems.
- Have a solid technical knowledge and experience in analyzer engineering, analyzer / analyzer sample system applications, and knowledge of control systems and control system configuration.
- Have a strong computer skill and an understanding of plant process control and advanced process control techniques and how they can be applied to monitor, control and/ or improve plant performance, strong operating systems experience in Analytics will be essential.
