Berklee POPP Senior DevOps Engineer

Job Description:

This position is with the Berklee POPP (Pre-College, Online, and Professional Programs) Development Operations team, which is responsible for technical facilitation of Business Development activities, with a special focus on Software Development. This team ensures that all technical platforms and processes that facilitate business activities are reliable, secure, and robust. They also ensure that technical solutions are in-line with current state-of-the-art standards.

The Sr. DevOps Engineer reports to the Director of Development Operations, and works with all technology teams, external solution providers, and internal business unit resources. This position is more “Dev” than “Ops” and requires significant programming skills in the area of tools and backend development, as well as People Skills. This is a senior position that requires extensive soft skills in addition to technical skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Be an authoritative technical resource on the matters of Systems and Process Implementation to both technical colleagues as well as lay colleagues.

• Develop, Maintain, and Refactor Custom Tools and Backends.

• Initiate Projects that Serve Business Goals.

• Convert Manual Technical Processes to Programmed Processes.

• Design and Implementation Duties in-line with current industry standards.

• Big-Picture Development duties that advance solutions with the times.

• In-trench responsibility for CI/CD pipelines and all other technical processes that facilitate the business.

• Develop Initiatives with regards to the Constant Quest to Cut Costs Responsibly.

• Technical Support for all Developers.

• 24x7 On-Call (Bi-Weekly Rotation).
   

REQUIREMENTS:

• B.S. or 4 years of General Experience in the Workforce.

• 10+ years of Combined Experience in Operations and Development.

• Demonstrated AWS Abilities.

• Demonstrated Linux Abilities.

• Demonstrated Kubernetes Expertise.

• Expert-level knowledge in SDLC Strategies.

• “Cloud Economist” Mentality, with a track record of cutting costs responsibly

• Detail-Oriented

• Communication Skills developed enough to effectively achieve Business goals across the wide spectrum of Business Units.
   

Working Conditions: Must be able to work flexible hours and participate in a two-week on-call rotation.
