Lead Product Quality Engineer- Fury

As a Principal Lead Product Quality Engineer, you will build a small team of product quality engineers who will work inside & outside the organization to define, develop, and execute processes that deliver the Fury program and drive Anduril's internal quality management system to meet AS6500 customer requirements. This role focuses on Group 5/Fury products and all the sub-systems - flight controls, structures, propulsion, control surfaces, navigation, communication, ground proximity warning systems, electrical systems/CAN, actuators, sensors, etc. The right person for this role has knowledge of manufacturing, product development, sub-system performance criteria and metrology while building confidence with defense customers in their development milestone processes/program management structures. WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Grow, develop, and lead a team of product quality engineers who will develop and deliver the quality performance for Group 5 products including guidance systems, flight systems, propulsion systems, energetics, actuators, control surfaces and structures, etc.
- Lead the partnership with our design teams to support the design development process, provide quality assurance, process improvements, risk assessment/management, strategies for verifying, validating, and qualifying capabilities, and identification of industry standard to help deliver our Group 5 designs.
- Work cross-functionally to define and execute the product roadmap to meet our customer quality requirements.
- Systematically, drive the product quality processes throughout the product development stages with the product engineering teams through design reviews, development builds, and release to production.
- Develop an overall quality plan (similar to APQP) for various missile projects. Leverage resources and direct reports to delivery quality through the development cycle. Design, development, and leverage elements of the Anduril QMS to build confidence and containment for Fury customers quality expectations. Set expectations for qualification of internal and external manufacturing processes including measurement methods, PPAP/FAI, inspection methods & test protocol & acceptance test plans for the Fury program Lead the transition from engineering qualification to manufacturing variance testing for product quality coverage.
- Lead product health data analysis and improvement activities for Fury.
- Matrix lead supplier quality engineers who are supporting the design and development activities with the suppliers for Group 5 programs.
- Lead the Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process, incident management system (Jira) and Material Review Board (MRB) activities for the Group 5 programs, while owning containments for prototype builds and production.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar technical field
- Experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality in aircraft product making and production processes. Experience in growing and developing teams and managing resources.
- Working knowledge of design review and quality management of aviation systems, PCBA, harnessing, avionics, systems integration, composites
- /control surfaces, propulsion systems, and lethality systems.
- Experience driving product quality and performance requirements to test and measurement system development and optimization. Knowledgeable of missile storage and maintenance processes.
- Experience partnering with Reliability Engineering, chief engineers, architects, and customer facing team members to deliver to customer requirements.
- Working knowledge of product development methodologies such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) elements such as Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Working knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical manufacturing processes
