Senior Full Stack Engineer

About your role:

Fiserv builds the technology that powers payments and financial services for businesses and consumers. You’ll join a small, growing engineering team responsible for back-of-house web applications, point-of-sale APIs, and Android clients. Your work will help deliver reliable, scalable payment services and accelerate product delivery across the stack.

 

What you’ll do:

• Own one or more web services and drive feature development, bug fixes, refactors, and performance improvements from design through production.
• Design and build RESTful APIs and microservices that power mobile apps, payment devices, dashboards, and partner integrations.
• Partner with product and design to translate requirements into well-scoped, testable implementations that meet business goals.
• Lead end-to-end delivery for features: implement code, create automated tests, deploy, monitor, and iterate based on production telemetry.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and data engineers on data models, scaling strategies, and operational runbooks to support reliable services at scale.
• Participate in agile planning, code reviews, and cross-functional design discussions to raise code quality and align architecture decisions.
• Join a regular on-call rotation to rapidly address incidents and maintain system uptime.

Experience you’ll need to have:

• 10+ years of experience in Java development and JVM-based server-side application development, including Spring Boot.
• 8+ years of experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• 8+ years of experience with TypeScript and React for building modern web user interfaces.
• 8+ years of experience with relational databases such as MySQL, including schema design and query optimization.
• 8+ years of experience with cloud platforms and containerization (preferably Google Cloud Platform and Docker).
• 6+ years of experience with CI/CD and automated testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Cypress, Selenium).
• 6+ years of equivalent combination of educational background, related experience, and/or military experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

• Experience building high-volume transactional or e-commerce systems and familiarity with payment processing flows.
• Practical experience developing Android client applications or integrating mobile SDKs with backend services.
• Hands-on familiarity with observability tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver) and incident response practices.
• Knowledge of PCI DSS or other payments security standards and secure coding practices.
• Experience presenting technical designs to product stakeholders and driving cross-team technical alignment.

How you’ll work:

• This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
• This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment.
