Job Description:

The Senior Technologist Product Development is accountable to the Senior Manager – Engine Oil Product Development & Digital for delivery of OD&I projects according to latest business priorities.

The primary purpose of this role is to lead projects that design and develop new lubricant products and test methods. The new products and methods are required to meet the changing demands of global markets and to provide opportunities to differentiate the performance of BP’s products from its competitors.

The role holder will successfully report and deliver the specifications for products that have new or improved performance features and/or improved cost of goods benefits compared to previous BP or competitors’ products.

Key Accountabilities:

• Management of a portfolio of development/investigation projects through effective planning, execution and documenting test programs so that key milestones are delivered on time and on budget.
• Building effective networks with both subject matter experts and operational staff within the technology function to facilitate the delivery of projects, these networks include product: testing, deployment, quality, stewardship, intellectual assets, research and compliance.
• Building effective networks outside of the technology function to include: suppliers of goods and services, technical consultancies, OEMs, BP marketing, BP Legal.
• Providing technical leadership by coaching and directing the work of less experienced colleagues.
• Develop and share expertise to facilitate continuous improvement within the Development Team
• Role is required to interact with geographically dispersed and culturally diverse stakeholder groups.
• The role requires the ability to innovate and solve complex problems but also the discipline to be able to organize tasks and deliver to exacting timelines and budgets. Essential:
• The role holder will manage a portfolio of development projects with budgets ranging from $50K to over $1m and will be required to accurately forecast expenditure and deliver to forecast.

Job Holder Requirements

Essential:

• Degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Engineering or related technical discipline
• Demonstrated track record in delivering projects focused on product development, engineering or research
• Proven experience of fuel or lubricant development, automotive engineering development or product research and technology
• Demonstrate a collaborative approach to working
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Provide evidence of designing novel work programs

Desired:

• Demonstrated experience in Fuels, Lubricants, Additives or Automotive/Manufacturing industries would be advantageous.
• Good knowledge of automotive, manufacturing and/or systems engineering.

How much do we pay (Base)? (125,000.00  & 231,000.00)
