JOB SUMMARY
TJ Pavilion Specialty Pharmacy is looking for a highly motivated certified technician to work in a hospital-based outpatient specialty pharmacy. Our technicians play an important role in delivering medication and pharmaceutical care to patients. This includes developing close relationships with patients in communities we serve and assisting the pharmacists in accurately preparing and delivering prescription medication. Reports to the Certified Pharmacy Technician Manager immediately supervised by the Specialty Pharmacy Manager and pharmacist team. Provides assistance to pharmacist to prepare and dispense prescriptions for the Retail Pharmacy. Under the supervision and work direction of staff pharmacists, the Pharmacy technician performs and learns primary tasks and secondary tasks. Enters prescription details in patient profile, selects correct medication, places in container, and labels for pharmacist review. Involved in follow up patient care contacts, must have professional telephone skills. Prepares store for physical inventory. Prices and stocks merchandise. May perform other duties as required for patient care and customer service.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
- GED or High School Diploma required or current high school student in pursuit of GED to be obtained within one calendar year
- Some college work in life sciences desirable.

- Kentucky pharmacy technician registration, required
- National pharmacy technician certification (PTCB), required
- Some college work in life sciences desirable.
Minimum Work Experience
- Specialty pharmacy experience, preferred
- 5+ years with retail pharmacy technician related experience, preferred
- 340B understanding and experience, preferred

- Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by profiling prescriptions, preparing labels and calculating quantities
- Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and ordering when needed
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Works with pharmacy team to ensure best practices are being followed with regards to 340B
- Ability to organize work priorities and meet specific objective under time constraints
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to interact with persons of varying backgrounds and education level
- Ability to identify and address the needs of different patient age groups and effectively communicate with those patients
- Knowledgeable in computer applications, calculations, basic medical terminology, filling of medication orders
- Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of equipment necessary to perform job function
- High levels of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintains proper stock; removes any outdates discovered. Performs the essential functions relating to drug purchasing and inventory control
- Checks that all items and tasks are completed by end of shift
- Medications filled in a timely manner
- Keeps ample inventory, while minimizing waste and over stock
- Responsible for maintaining temperature logs and maintaining compliance with regulations.
- Drugs prepackaged properly; labeled correctly
- Provides consistent performance in regards to medication errors and accuracy
- Uses appropriate judgment refers problems to pharmacist if needed
- Communicates effectively, does not leave assigned duties incomplete
