Leidos is seeking an experienced Distribution Engineering leader for Third Party Make Ready engineering in Framingham, Massachusetts. This position is hybrid in nature, where 3 days/week are spent working in our office, collaborating with internal teams, and 2 days/week can be spent working remotely.

As a Senior Distribution Engineer, You can expect to:

  • Lead the development of electrical distribution work packages; Perform 3rd party make ready design and analysis; potentially work on capital/ reliability design (i.e. reconductor, voltage conversion, DG, FLISR, underground, etc. designs)
  • Be responsible for QAQC tasks on your assigned team; You will play a role in quality reviews of your team's designs prior to submittals for client projects
  • Review engineering design packages with clients; Review and organize existing program work
  • Perform scope analysis of work assigned and maintain schedule adherence to advocate client priorities
  • Interact directly with clients on a frequent, as-needed basis
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met.
  • Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements; Assist with work permit development, easements, and ROW applications
  • Be comfortable in both a field and office setting; the role could possibly require some customer-site visits to collect field data that will assist in developing work packages

What Sets You Apart (Background Requirements):

  • 5+ years of relevant experience working electric distribution projects in a consulting environment for electric utilities or working directly at an electric utility
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution; Additional relevant experience can be considered in lieu of engineering-specific bachelor's degree
  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
  • Experience with engineering design quality control
  • Familiarity with Pole Loading software (O-Calc, Pole Foreman, etc) and distribution pole analysis
  • Ability to utilize a personal vehicle, as some customer-related travel could be anticipated (Job-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates)
  • Willingness to perform both field and office work; Ability to work in outdoor environments on occasion; The role may require customer-site visits to collect field data that will assist in developing work packages
  • Candidates should possess valid U.S. driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous QAQC experience
  • Experience providing estimated costs, development of a BOM, calculating the CIAC
  • Demonstrated history of Customer Interaction
  • Proven experience and proficiency with STORMS software and GIS is preferred
  • Prior Leadership experience is preferred
