Lead Software Engineer, Geneva

The Role 

We are seeking a highly qualified and talented technologist to join us and lead our Advent Geneva initiative for the Accounting and Valuation Technology team. The team is responsible for the eco-system which provides accurate T0 and T+1 Position, P&L & Transactions Data via its shadow accounting system (Advent Geneva) to key organizational stakeholders in the Fund Accounting, Valuation, Operations, Compliance, Risk and Business Analytics areas. The AVT team is also directly supporting the automation needs of Fund Accounting in the realm of Investor Reporting, Portfolio Manager performance payout estimations and allocations. The team is also responsible for providing valuation for complex OTC products and derivatives traded in the Fund.

                                                                                                                                                                

What you’ll do 

The Lead Software Engineer will be responsible for all Geneva focused initiatives. You will work alongside the Accounting and Valuation Product Manager to set the strategic direction and vision for Geneva including incoming data flow, ensuring data quality, setting up new product types, extracting data in the data warehouse effectively in a timely manner and then serving this data to stakeholders, etc. As the Lead, you will be tasked with setting the technical direction for the team improving their overall productivity as well as supporting various ad-hoc stakeholder requests. You will also evaluate our current Geneva suite of products & services – identify gaps, vulnerabilities, and potential enhancements then design, architect and build new proprietary analytical and data features.

 

What you’ll bring

What you need:

• Expertise in Advent Geneva and Portfolio Accounting Fundamentals
• Expertise in successfully designing, building, and implementing features on top of vendor-based systems
• Experience leading small, highly technical development teams
• Experience mentoring junior developers
• Proficiency in Java (or any other object-oriented programming language), messaging, micro-services
• Strong architectural experience
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong executive presence – experience interacting with C-Suite and business stakeholders

We’d love if you had:

• Experience and knowledge of:
  • Fixed Income and Credit products
  • Containerization and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, AWS Batch/Step Functions, etc.
  • Experience in designing data-warehouses
  • Monitoring services like Grafana, etc. & SRE practices like Observability & Reliability.
• Experience within buy side financial firms
