The William Paterson University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation is an integral part of the University’s overall mission to provide its students with a comprehensive educational experience, one that stresses the importance of academic, personal, emotional, social and physical development. Job Summary
The Strength and Conditioning Coach is a ten-month full-time position responsible for design, implementation, and supervision of the varsity athletics strength and conditioning program. The position reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Athletics and Recreation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with head coaches to develop year-round strength training and conditioning programs.
• Create in-season and off-season performance-based testing for a full range of strength, speed, and agility metrics in collaboration with coaching staff.
• Maintain strong knowledge of the NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to workout programs for student athletes.
• Safely motivate and lead effective training programs for team and individual workouts. Educate athletes on proper techniques for all lifts and movement while supervising execution.
• Work collaboratively with Athletic Training staff to promote student recovery and well-being. Supports education of student athletes regarding supplements, nutrition, sleep and other healthy living practices with guidance from Athletic Training staff and campus partners.
• Primary oversight of the newly built Steve Adzima Strength and Conditioning Center including ensuring facility and equipment cleanliness, maintenance, and safety.
• As needed, schedule open workout opportunities for athletes outside of team sessions
• Communicate and collaborate with a variety of individuals, staff, coaches, administrators, and various offices on campus for student development and student support initiatives.
• Demonstrable commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles
• Perform other related work as needed.

Qualifications
Required

• Bachelor’s degree in physical education, kinesiology, exercises science, health science, or related field
• Current NSCA-CSCS or CSCC certification

• Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through at least 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
• First Aid, CPR, AED certification
• Carry, lift, push, pull loads/objects of 50 to 99 lbs.

Preferred

• Two years strength and conditioning coaching experience at the collegiate level
