About the role

The Company You’ll Join

Carta connects founders, investors, and limited partners through world-class software, purpose-built for everyone in venture capital, private equity and private credit. Trusted by 65,000+ companies in 160+ countries, Carta’s platform of software and services lays the groundwork so you can build, invest, and scale with confidence.

Carta’s Fund Administration platform supports 9,000+ funds and SPVs, representing nearly $185B in assets under management, with tools designed to enhance the strategic impact of fund CFOs. Recognized by Fortune, Forbes, Fast Company, Inc. and Great Places to Work, Carta is shaping the future of private market infrastructure.

Together, Carta is creating the end-to-end ERP platform for private markets. Traditional ERP solutions don’t work for Private Funds. Private capital markets need a comprehensive software solution to replace outdated spreadsheets and fragmented service providers. Carta’s software for the Office of the Fund CFO does just that - it’s a new category of software to make private markets look more like public markets - a connected ERP for private capital.

The Team You'll Work With

Carta is reimagining what a next-generation People function can be. As the VP of Human Resources, you’ll lead our HRBPs and Employee Relations team while piloting new ways of working that are experience led and ‘product’ driven. This is a unique opportunity to be a builder—helping shape the foundation for a transformative People strategy at scale.

Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, you’ll lead Carta’s ~15-person HR organization and partner closely with the VP of Talent and VP of Total Rewards to shape our People strategy end to end.

The People Team exists to drive people performance. We are guided by three priorities:

  • Deliver a 10X People Experience – create intuitive, empowering touchpoints that make every stage of the employee journey exceptional.
  • Activate & Evolve Our Culture – embed our values  into daily decisions and behaviors as Carta grows and enters new markets.
  • Remove Friction to Enable Performance – design roles, teams, and systems that reduce complexity, leverage AI, and accelerate results.

Looking ahead, we’re evolving the People Team to embrace a  product-centered approach in everything we do—treating programs like Onboarding, Careers & Mobility, Performance, Rewards, and Workforce Experience as “people products” with clear purpose, defined users, clear ownership and measurable outcomes. As VP of HR, you will be central to influencing this model.

The Problems You'll Solve

As the VP of Human Resources, you’ll lead Carta’s HRBPs and Employee Relations team through this transformation—balancing operational excellence with innovation. Specifically, you will:

  • Build and lead the HR/ER team – empower a high-performing team of ~15 professionals who are trusted advisors and cultural stewards.
  • Be a strategic partner – collaborate with Carta’s Executive Team, business leaders, and People peers to deliver scalable, global solutions.
  • Lead cultural and people integration for M&A – drive alignment of people, processes, and values during acquisitions to ensure seamless integration and minimize disruption.
  • Drive performance processes – lead critical programs such as performance management and promotions, ensuring they drive accountability, reward impact, and enable Carta to scale with speed, consistency, and fairness.
  • Elevate the employee journey – redesign lifecycle touchpoints to create a seamless and empowering employee experience.
  • Guide HR & ER products – take ownership of HRBP and Employee Relations–related “people products,” introducing product-inspired practices (journey mapping, clear ownership, measurable outcomes) to improve design and delivery.
  • Drive compliance and risk management – oversee Employee Relations, reduce legal risks, and ensure global compliance.
  • Enable organizational design & planning – provide input on workforce planning, succession, leveling, and mobility.
  • Champion change & adaptability – coach leaders and teams through transformation, embrace new technology and AI to enable smarter ways of working, and embed Carta’s values into everyday decisions and behaviors.
  • Roll up your sleeves – balance strategic work with hands-on execution, streamlining daily HR operations while driving continuous improvement.<
