Team/Role Overview
The ideal candidate will have experience in both professional software development and site reliability engineering. This is a hands-on, embedded SRE role where you will be a resident expert, working within a team of software developers. The role requires a developer with strong technical skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders and partners throughout the full development life cycle, from inception and design, to deployment, operational management and iterative refinement.
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer within the Continuous Improvement Team, you will be instrumental in developing the platforms, tooling and services required to support the efficiency and resiliency of our Production Operations. The Continuous Improvement Team is based in multiple locations across the globe (US, Mexico, Poland, India) and comprises of Architects, DevOps Engineers and Full Stack Developers. This Senior SRE position is available in Poland.
What you'll do:
- Design for Reliability: Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure, using both off-the-shelf and home-grown tooling for a holistic monitoring/observability of the Production Operations services ecosystem.
- Innovate and Automate: Develop tools, scripts, and software in Java and/or Python to automate manual operational tasks (toil reduction), improving efficiency and system reliability for yourself and your developer counterparts.
- Proactive Improvement: Audit existing applications and services for weak points, propose reliability improvements, and drive the implementation of long-term solutions through code and configuration.
- Champion Observability: Implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to ensure service health and performance visibility. Define, track, and manage Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
What we'll need from you:
You are a talented technologist with a proven track record of engineering excellence, a deep expertise in software engineering and a passion for engineering best practices. You will have:
- Preferably 5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or Software Engineering, with demonstrated expertise in handling production systems.
- Strong hands-on Java development experience (Java 17/Spring Boot 3.x).
- Experience implementing secure REST services/microservices.
- Strong coding skills in other languages like Python, Go is highly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), Kubernetes, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
- Experience with databases (MongoDB, SQL and Oracle/OraaS).
- Experience with centralized logging, analytics and system monitoring solutions.
- Proven ability to diagnose and fix complex, distributed system failures.
- Experience with Security - OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect with JWT Bearer Tokens and X509 Cert Security for Java applications and command line tools.
- Agile Development: Thrive in an Agile environment, actively participating in sprints, backlog grooming, and continuous improvement efforts.
Nice to Have Experience:
- General Networking Experience: IP Address Subnetting, DNS, Firewall Theory.
- General Cloud & Containerization Experience: Google, AWS, OSE
- General understanding of the Schedulers & Batch
- General understanding of Mainframe environment
- Basics of Ansible/AAP Playbooks creation
Education:
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master's degree preferred
