Health Information Management (HIM) Lead

Job Description

The HIM Team Lead ensures the accurate, secure, and compliant management of patient data, often acting as a point of contact for health information management (HIM) related issues. 

Essential Functions

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Assist managerial staff in areas of workflow and day to day operations ensuring department goals are met and all applicable state and federal regulations are adhered to  in accordance with HIPAA and privacy rules
  • Conduct initial and ongoing training and mentoring for new and existing staff (sessions, one-on-one, etc..)
  • Assist employees with day-to-day questions, issues or problems and escalate identified systemic issues to supervisor
  • Responsible for processing own assigned work queue

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):

Demonstrate strong interpersonal, organization and communication skills

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Awareness of HIPPA and Privacy regulations

Effective problem-solving skills

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.  Degree in HIM is preferred

AND

Experience:

At least 2 years' experience in assigned area of HIM responsibility
