We are searching for a Director of Operations to join our Construction division.  The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Project Management team, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the company’s high standards of quality.  This leadership role involves coordinating with Project Managers, Field Supervisors, Estimators, procurement, and clients to streamline operations, maximize efficiency, and drive strategic growth.

What You’ll Do:

  • Operational Leadership
    • Direct and manage daily operations of all construction projects.
    • Implement and refine SOPs, quality control metrics, and field productivity metrics.
    • Coordinate with Project Managers and the Construction Manager to ensure successful project execution.
  • Project Oversight
    • Oversee scheduling, resource allocation, procurement, subcontractor coordination, and budgeting.
    • Review and track job progress, cost reports, change orders, and project profitability.
    • Support preconstruction activities including estimating, bid reviews, and contract execution.
  • Team Management & Development
    • Lead and mentor operations team including Project Managers, Estimators, Foremen, and field staff.
    • Recruit, train, and develop talent to meet company standards and client expectations.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Client & Stakeholder Relations
    • Serve as a key point of contact for clients and ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
    • Resolve conflicts, manage client expectations, and ensure long-term business relationships.
  • Strategic Planning
    • Collaborate with executive leadership to set long-term goals.
    • Analyze performance metrics and industry trends to drive operational enhancements.
    • Assist in business development and expansion into new markets or services.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring:

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in the construction industry.
  • Deep understanding of construction project lifecycles.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budges, margins, and P&L.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Driving Requirements
    • Must have a valid Virginia driver’s license.
    • Must have positive points on state driving record.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age unless company approval is granted.
    • Must not have had a DUI, DWI, or reckless driving conviction in the last five years.
    • All driving records are run as part of our pre-employment process and reviewed at the discretion of the Safety Team.
