Summary
The production supervisor (lead operator) is an on-the-line position, responsible for contributing to and driving the daily execution of a production line, ensuring that the quality and safety standards are met, and providing guidance and support to fellow production operators. The manufacturing production lead operator also monitors the performance and efficiency of the production equipment, troubleshoots any issues, and coordinates with the maintenance and engineering teams when issues exceed the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Production personnel. The production Lead operator reports to the production supervisor and works closely with other departments such as quality control, logistics, and inventory.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Individually contribute to the line operation and production plans. This is an on-the-line position that individually contributes alongside other Production operators on the line.
- Supervise and direct the production staff, assign tasks, and provide training and feedback
- Lead and motivate a team of contractual operators, providing guidance, feedback, and coaching. Train new hires and cross-train existing staff on different machines and tasks
- Ensure that the production line operates smoothly and meets the production goals and deadlines
- Enforce the quality and safety standards, policies, and procedures, and report any non-compliance or incidents
- Inspect and test the products for quality and functionality, and reject or approve them accordingly
- Maintain and update the production records, logs, and reports
- Monitor and optimize the performance and efficiency of the production equipment, and report any malfunctions or defects
- Coordinate with the maintenance and engineering teams to schedule and perform preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs
- Communicate and collaborate with other departments such as quality control, logistics, and inventory to ensure the smooth flow of materials and products
- Suggest and implement improvements and innovations to enhance the production process and quality.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed or required by SOLARCYCLE.
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2- 3 years of experience in a manufacturing production environment
- Previous experience as a production supervisor, production lead operator or a similar role
- Knowledge of the manufacturing production process, equipment, and tools
- Knowledge of the quality and safety standards, policies, and procedures
- Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain the production equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, manuals, and instructions
- Ability to perform basic math and measurements
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production goals and deadlines
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of production staff
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with other departments and stakeholders
- Attention to detail and quality
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Physical stamina and strength to lift and move heavy objects (max of 80 pounds).
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other related manufacturing software.
