Job Overview
Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Associate Production Supervisor ensures the production of company products at the highest quality at the lowest possible cost, meeting company performance standards and customer specifications and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

- Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments.
- Directly supervise the systems integration and test functions to ensure the production of company products at the highest quality at the lowest possible cost, meeting company performance standards, and customer specification and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Plan production schedules, review component parts, and sub-assembly availability against build schedule.
- Review parts shortages with purchasing and adjust schedules as necessary.
- Ensure the training and coaching of new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the company’s standards for quality, quantity, and safety.
- Participate in planning meetings, recommending space, personnel, and equipment requirements.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures and plan the repair of machines and equipment to minimize downtime.
- Develop, recommend, and implement departmental policies and procedures, processes, and methods.
- Continually evaluate processes and methods, recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment, performance, utilization of people, and quality of product.
- Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems; analyze and resolve work problems and assist workers in solving work problems.
- Maintain departmental supplies, tools, equipment, and order as necessary.
- Ensure the completion of all required production paperwork, records, annual reviews, documentation, such as quality records, etc.
- Approve vacation schedules and timecards.
- Post mandatory overtime or adjusting schedules when needed.
- Oversee extended working hours assigned (including Saturdays).
- Interview potential employees for open positions.
- Issue disciplinary measures if necessary (warnings, write-ups, terminations, etc.)
- Make sure that labor is being reported properly.
- Responsible for forecasting monthly shipments on a regular basis.
- Work closely with various groups (planning, purchasing, engineering, test, quality, etc.) to ensure on time shipment of customer orders.
- Work closely with customer service to ensure orders are on schedule and/or notifying them of any delays so customers can stay informed.
- Ensure compliance with departmental housekeeping standards and all safety and work rules and regulations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carry out supervisory and leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Be an innovative thinker with a strong attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing conditions in demands, priorities, etc.

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

- Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to make independent decisions with sound judgment.
Education and/or Experience
- Two years of college and one to three years of progressively responsible related experience; or four years of high school and three to five years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
