Clinical Faculty Coordinator, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Direct Entry Pathways

Georgetown University, Berkley School of Nursing (BSON) is seeking Clinical Faculty Coordinator (CFC) for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Direct Entry Pathways programs. The Clinical Faculty Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of clinical education components of the BSN and direct entry pathways. This position and reports to the Assistant Dean of Professional Practice and Direct Entry Pathways.

In addition, the CFC is a key member of the pre-licensure pathways leadership team. The PD works collaboratively with the other program directors in all matters relating to the clinical curriculum.

This faculty position is held on the educator track (non-tenure) in at a rank commensurate with criteria representing academic rank of instructor expectations. The following time commitments are reflected below:  

  • Clinical coordination: 70%, based on student enrollment and program needs
  • Clinical teaching: 30% (6 credits)

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Master’s degree in nursing or related field
  • Eligible for an unencumbered RN license in the District of Columbia
  • Prior experience with clinical education in undergraduate or graduate nursing education
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills

Responsibilities include:

Clinical Coordination (up to 70%)

  • Planning and coordination of all aspects of program clinical operations.
  • Ensuring integration of GUSON values including but not limited to antiracism, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Coordination and implementation of the clinical curriculum to reflect current practice guidelines and standards.
  • Ensures accreditation requirements are met relative to clinical education and monitors clinical education outcomes
  • Selection, onboarding, supervision, and evaluation of clinical faculty
  • Ensures that all established clinical criteria are met by each student
  • Carries out all responsibilities and functions associated with the position as it relates to clinical education to ensure that the curriculum demonstrates that the required clinical competencies are being met
  • At the direct of the Program Directors, is responsible for all evaluation of clinical instruction
  • Responsible for leading clinical remediation with individual students as indicated by student performance 
  • Ensures adequate clinical faculty coverage each semester, and makes cost effective, appropriate faculty-student assignments based on State Boards of Nursing requirements  
  • Responsible for student clinical orientation and onboarding
  • In collaboration with the Program Director, is responsible for updating and maintaining the clinical aspects of the student supplemental handbooks as well as preceptor / clinical faculty handbooks
  • Enhancement of the program’s reputation and visibility through engagement in relevant professional activities.

Teaching (up to 30%)

  • Teaches in area of expertise as needed including simulation, clinical skills
  • Participates in curriculum and course development
  • Develops and implements innovative teaching strategies

Scholarship & Service (5-10%)

  • Engagement in scholarly activities such as research, publications and grant writing as appropriate.
  • Participating in program, school, university, and other committees as required.
  • Participating in all relevant program and SON student events as required.
