Summary
Teach Respiratory Care courses to a diverse student body using effective teaching strategies; develop, revise, and maintain course materials; recommend/design new programs; maintain office hours; participate in appropriate professional development opportunities; participate in College and community activities, promote the mission of the College; develop/implement retention strategies; assist in graduate placement; attend graduation ceremony; assist with student advising and registration; serve on College committees; promote institutional goals; assist department chair with administrative responsibilities. Teaching may be on any of the campuses, by distance learning, and may be days, nights, weekends, or a combination.Instructional Development - the development, revision, and maintenance of courses and curriculum through course objectives, outlines, and appropriate instructional materials.
Teaching Performance - the ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process.
Student Advisement - the participation of the faculty member, when applicable, in assisting students in personal and professional development.
College and/or Community Service - participation in college activities and the promotion of the college through public service.
Professional Development - the participation of the faculty member in activities designed to develop professional skills so as to maintain and improve proficiency in his/her present position.
Instructional Management - the effective use of required office hours, exhibition of effective classroom management and control, and timely and accurately submitted reports.
Examples of duties
An associate's degree in respiratory care from an accredited institution. At least five years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, including two years in critical care. Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist, be an active member of the AARC, and have a current SC license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.Supplemental information
