Job Description

Organize, perform, and lead in assigned department to ensure all required processes, procedures, and production requirements are met. Work in a focused Small Seed Vegetable (SSV) Conditioning and Seed Health area.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Adherence to all applicable HSE and other corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Assist in presenting all safety training classes, seeds of safety observations, and forklift observations.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly calibrated and routinely inspected.
  • Supervise employees and third-party personnel as required.
  • Perform other duties as required to meet SSV conditioning department needs.
  • Specialize in dedicated small seed vegetable (SSV) conditioning and seed health area activities
  • Provide leadership and overall seed quality expertise to SSV plant activities
  • Responsible for maintaining, documenting, and adherence to established plant operating procedures.
  • Development and execution of processing work instruction, task cards, JSA’s, ECP’s, in accordance with our document management procedures
  • Responsible for product quality assessments and adherence to product specifications.
  • All seed picked and transported to specified area is identified accurately and checked against production orders. Fill all orders per production order instructions.
  • Ensure all equipment clean-downs and changeovers are done correctly to eliminate any product contamination or seed mixture.
  • Assist with quality samples, officially drawn samples and quality data collection.
  • Execute sampling procedures per established procedures.
  • Conduct seed testing and reporting activities in accordance with company quality standards.
  • Responsible for product quality assessments and adherence to product specifications.
  • Development and execution of processing plans required to meet key business strategies and product availability requirements.
  • Proactive communication both interdepartmentally and cross functionally to assure that processing efforts are performed in a manner consistent with accommodating business demands and requirements.
  • A proactive response when seed is not meeting approved Product Specifications standards.
  • Rigorous Plant and Equipment R & M scheduling
  • Diligent continuous improvement processing efforts with accompanying employee motivations.
  • Timely execution and provisions of informational requirements, key performance indicators, operation efficiencies, and quality standards
  • Uses ability as a skilled specialist to contribute to development of concepts and techniques and to complete tasks in creative and effective ways to meet the production standards and quality specifications.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • AA or Bachelor’s highly preferred
  • Knowledge of office functions and processes, including MS Office (Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to be forklift certified

Additional Knowledge, Skills, Traits & Abilities:

  • Ability to operate state of the art conditioning and seed enhancement equipment
  • Ability to receive AASCO seed sampler certification
  • Excellent analytical and deductive reasoning skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work positively and effectively with outside vendors/agencies and internal personnel and departments.
  • Working knowledge of inventory management principals.
  • Able to wear pesticide PPE; able to lift 50 lbs.; bending and stooping; frequent standing and walking including climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to work in cold, hot, and dusty conditions; work with seed treatments; shift work and weekends.
