This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

This Software Engineering role supports Blue Origin’s MK2 Crew Lander and NASA's HLS SLD program. As part of a small and accomplished team of specialists responsible for crafting, developing, validating the simulation infrastructure used to train lunar crew lander astronauts and operators. You will play a key role in supporting missions that will establish a lasting human presence in space.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, providing to innovative solutions while demonstrating individual leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail.  Your will contribute to the full lifecycle of your training and simulation products, from conceptual designs to requirements generation, development, and validation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop training and simulation systems for lunar crew landers
  • Develop core simulation components, as well I/O components necessary to interface with displays, and hardware input controls, and instructor/operator stations
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and specialists to develop and integrate multi-functional solutions for simulation development and analysis
  • Develop automated test environments to support regression testing and requirement verification
  • Support continuous integration and test of hardware/software in support of software qualification

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree or higher in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field, with hands-on professional experience developing software for engineering problems
  • 5+ years of relevant software development experience for aerospace or other high technology, safety critical industries
  • Strong development skills, particularly in C/C++, and Python
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, real time operating systems, serial communications, IP networking, and embedded systems
  • Ability to direct a team on rapid development programs; highly organized and capable of planning, guiding, and completing complex technical work
  • Familiarity with sensors and actuators, including GPS, accelerometers, rate gyros, pressure or temperature sensors, solenoids, servos
  • Hands-on experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing and test development

Desired:

  • Strong domain knowledge and engineering fundamentals in a traditional engineering subject area in addition to strong software development experience
  • Experience with Docker, and CI/CD
  • Experience in Embedded or Real Time Systems
  • Experience with regulatory compliance of safety-critical standards such as NPR 7150.2D, DO-178C, or similar


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $177,567.00-$248,593.80
