Position Summary

The Protein Homeostasis Thematic Research Center (PH TRC) advances BMS’s protein degradation and homeostasis strategies from discovery into early clinical development to address tumor‑intrinsic vulnerabilities and resistance mechanisms—enabling action on targets previously considered undruggable. As the Brisbane-based Senior Director of Translational Research, you will provide strategic scientific and organizational leadership in a cross-functional, cross-site environment, setting translational vision and standards and shaping and executing end-to-end translational strategies across a portfolio of early programs (pre-IND through Phase 1).You will influence portfolio-level decisions and ensure integration of preclinical biology with clinical biomarker strategy to drive patient enrichment, proof-of-mechanism, and decision-grade data in first-in-human trials.

Reporting into PH TRC Translational leadership, this role operates in a highly matrixed, cross‑site environment, partnering closely with Discovery Biology, Translational Development, Precision Medicine, Informatics & Predictive Sciences, and Early Clinical Development. You will represent the translational function at enterprise‑level governance, regulatory interactions, and external scientific forums, while building and sustaining a high‑performing, globally connected translational organization.

  • Cross‑Functional Partnership: Drive alignment with Translational Development, Precision Medicine, Clinical Development, and Informatics & Predictive Sciences (IPS) to ensure seamless execution of biomarker plans and data interpretation.

  • Assay Development & Validation: Oversee design, optimization, and validation of translational assays for clinical sample analysis, ensuring robustness, reproducibility, and compliance with quality systems.

  • Governance & Representation: Represent translational research at senior internal governance bodies, external scientific meetings, and health authority interactions; provide senior translational leadership input to regulatory submissions and briefing materials.

  • Innovation & Data Science: Champion the application of advanced analytics and AI/ML approaches to translational datasets (multi‑omics, digital pathology, longitudinal biomarker data) to accelerate hypothesis generation and signal detection.
