WSP is initiating a search for a Project Delivery Service Line Lead to join our Process and Infrastructure Design team in US Mining and Metals.  The position can be located in Phoenix, AZ; Salt Lake City, UT; or Denver, CO.  Be involved in projects with our US Process and Infrastructure Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

The Service Line Lead (SLL) reports to the Local business Leader (LBL) and is a key member of the District and Regional leadership team. As part of their role the SLL is responsible for meeting the annual business plan goals and the implementation of the Strategic Plan in their area of responsibility. The SLL is a hybrid role, providing operational and people leadership while remaining engaged with projects and client delivery. 

Your Impact

Near-Term Operational:

  • Lead and communicate effectively with a 15-25 member Project Delivery Team across multiple offices in the western U.S. and a complementary resource center in India, supported by two to three team leaders.
  • Advance and implement project delivery strategies within the U.S. Mining Business Region.
  • Develop and mentor staff, ensuring professional growth, performance accountability (RYP), and engagement (attrition rates, survey results, goal-setting, and appraisals).
  • Oversee project and financial performance, including NR growth, UTE, MU, RevRec, DSO, funding, ETC, and Health, Safety, and Wellness metrics.
  • Ensure timely project execution by managing direct and indirect labor goals.
  • Recruit and optimize workforce based on backlog and pipeline needs.
  • Evaluate and approve opportunities, proposals, change orders, and contracts per the RDOA.
  • Support project proposals by developing cost estimates, scopes, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Manage contract administration and compliance for multi-disciplinary portfolio projects.
  • Participate in contract negotiations, presentations, and key stakeholder meetings.
  • Develop and update project documentation, including risk assessments (REF/RMP), management plans (PMP), quality plans (QP), safety plans (PSP), and communication plans.
  • Monitor and track project metrics in collaboration with Project Accounting, ensuring financial health, cash flow, and budget adherence.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, and cost/change management.
  • Conduct project reviews, identifying root causes of issues and recommending solutions.
  • Manage accounts receivable (AR) and unbilled revenue, addressing discrepancies as needed.

Forward-Looking:

  • Key resource hiring: Identify and help bring into organization key hires and strengthen succession pool
  • Actively supports and drives operational value from our Sector and Client Programs
  • Supports the collaboration between service lines across the district and the region
  • Partners with the regional WSP counterparts for combined services and full-service client account development
  • Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of work experience, including 10+ years in consulting and/or project management.
  • In-depth knowledge of the project delivery process within the A/E/C industry, with a strong background in project management.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and business skills, with the ability to bridge business and project management.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a solid understanding of project management principles and their application.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with leadership, subcontractors, and employees at all levels.
  • Ability to lead independently, adapt to changing priorities, and provide guidance to mid- and senior-level team members while maintaining strict adherence to QA/QC standards.
  • Experience with project financial tracking and change management related to scopes of work.
  • Experience in risk management, including identifying, mitigating, and developing risk registers.
  • Proficient in project planning, numerical tracking, and analysis, including using tools like MS Excel.
